Mets Select Matt Harvey as 7th Overall

Indeed a glorious night for Matt Harvey as he was picked no. 7 overall by the New York Mets. An alumnus from University of North Carolina, Matt Harvey will be definitely an exciting rookie to be watched this upcoming MLB season.

The right handed pitcher, Matt Harvey only 21 years of age finished his season from University of North Carolina has 8-3 record with a 3.09 ERA in 14 games. Harvey also held his opponents to a .224 batting average and 102 strikeouts.

Matt Harvey is also named the Atlantic Coast Conference Pitchers of the Week for his 15 strikeouts performance versus the Clemson Tigers. Matt Harvey is the highest New York Mets draft selection since right handed pitcher Philip Humber with no. 3 selection overall in 2004.

The Mets believe that Matt Harvey’s strong arm could amass him 157 and more pitches. His durability, size and toughness would boosts up the team strategy this coming season. Mets fans are very excited to see their explosive rookie make his debut this coming season.

Matt Harvey has shown excellent performance during summer training. He has shown to have a decent fastball and glimpsed some fans of excellent sliders which will be seeing this season.
